Amin Shamal, MD FASAM
Dr. Amin Shamal is the Interim Chair of the Chiefs, Northern California, Addiction Medicine Recovery Services, Kaiser Permanente Inc., he graduated in 1987 from Kabul Medical School, Afghanistan and migrated to the US in the late 90s. Dr. Shamal is an active member of the California Medical Association, American Psychiatric Association (APA), American Society of Addiction Medication (ASAM), and the California Society of Addiction Medicine (CSAM). He also is involved in many coummunity service activities, offers free consultations and presentations on Mewntal Health and Addiction Medicine topics. He is also the founder of North America Afghan Physicians Reunions (NAAPR), an organization, which offers guidance and assistance to recently migrated physicians helping them to integrate into the US and Canada Health Care Systems. He is married, has three children, loves and plays music, enjoys traveling, gardening, and is a big fan of the Golden State Warriors and the Sacramento Kings.
